Law Enforcement Recruiting Challenges: A Panel Discussion

Law enforcement has been experiencing recruiting challenges for decades. Recent events may have both positive and negative effects on recruiting. Many current openings are created through attrition, with seasoned officers choosing to exit the profession in the wake of calls for defunding and the prospect of the withdrawal of qualified immunity. On the other hand, because LE recruits from the same candidate pool as the military, the recent return of American troops will create an recruiting opportunity.

Some solutions and innovations to the recruiting crisis will be discussed, including the pros and cons of offering cash and other incentives to new hires, expanding the pipeline of recruits through Explorers and cadet programs, and other creative ideas.
